Applications of Ju Jitsu
The free fight (Fighting System)
The fightng system is a style of competitive fight in modern sport Ju Jitsu. This form of fight is different from all other forms of fighting and wrestling for its complexity. The fight starts with a phase of distance fighting, in which it is allowed hitting with a number of kicks and punches.
The particular feature of this fighting system is that the fight goes on beyond this distance phase, since a grappling phase is allowed, which is very similar in its rules to judo. The fights is very similar to a Mixed Martial Arts fight for he fact that a good knowledge of kick and punch techniques is required, together with mastery of grapplig and wrestling techniques.
Personal defense (self-defense)
Throught the study of the techniques of Settori and the kata of Hontai Yoshin Ryu, the athlete is directed towards techniques useful for personal defence against armed and non-armed attacks. The personal defence techniques are selected based on the physical fitness of the athlete.
The instructors in our school have the qualification from the Italian Judo, Wrestling, Karate and martial arts Federation (FIJLKAM) to teach the Global Method of self-defense (MGA). The Global Method of Self-Defense is a sistem of personal defense derived from the work of a technical commission of experts in a variety of disciplines (Ju Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Aikido, ecc.) directed by a high ranking officer of the police and Judo master. This method is followed in Italy in some police and army groups, since it allows to neutralise the opponent without physical injuries, which could be a legal liability for the person appying the techniques.
